12/18/09 My Red Belt Test (3rd Gup)

So after 3 years I tested for my red belt in Tang Soo Do. Here are some pictures of the test. Annie and Rae tested at the same time so I was glad to have them there with me.
Here we are warming up. I don't know about Rae and Annie, but I was pretty nervous. Good times.
Hand combination #13....Yeah, believe it.
Annie, Rae, Julian and some girl I don't know.
I really don't know what we were doing here...but we look cool doing it cuz we're in full Dobok with awesome belts. Hi-ya!

Living Room Remodel - Day 1

Today was the first day in our attempt to remodel our living room. Below are a few images of what it started out as:

Our Lovely Couch

It is kind of messy...

While we were ripping into the archway, we stumbled upon a surprise! Whoever had put the archway together decided to hide some wiring with the archway, rather than put it in the wall like it should. Below are some pictures depicting the wire and our attempt to fix the wiring...

Pretty nice, eh?

Regarding Corporate Propaganda

I know it is dumb, but Albertsons has this weird thing about giving its employees random buttons to help make them "excited" about new products. I usually get excited to deface them with a pen or Sharpie. Today I made my newest incarnation of our corporate propaganda:

This Year's Valentine's Day

I know this is a little late, but this year's Valentine's Day was way fun. We slept in which was much needed. Neither of us wanted to fix breakfast so I decided to be the bigger man and took Jen to JB's. ;) We were lazy the whole day, just napping, watching TV, etc. Then we made a very nice dinner for ourselves.

After dinner we watched a few episodes of Desperate House Wives (DHW) and let our food settle. Once everything was settled in we warmed up some chocolate and had some fondue! It was so good. We cut up some strawberries and banana (I forgot to grab the raspberries), turned the lights down low, turned the lights back up to find some candles, lit the candles, turned the lights down low again and enjoyed some great dessert with some great company (at least great female company... the male company was pretty okay). Overall, Valentine's Day 2009 = Best Valentine's Day ever.

Regarding Inappropriate Christmas Decorations...

Tonight Jen and I were driving home from our weekly visit to Grandma Jensen's. It seemed like it would be a normal quiet night driving home, however, fate had other things in mind... As we were driving, I was placidly staring out the window at the various Christmas Decorations and admiring their overall “funness” when all of a sudden we came across this beauty-

I started to laugh. I started to cry. I wet my pants (not really, but I could have if I hadn’t stopped laughing). Jen asked me what was so funny. I turned the car around and drove passed Santa again. She started to laugh. She started to cry. She wet her pants (again, not really). Then we drove passed again and repeated the cycle. Then we went home and grabbed the camera!

Jen was at the wheel on the return trip. The objective? I would do a running exit from the car with camera and tripod in hand and (while laughing) capture a picture of Santa. Mission: Easily Probable. Anyway, we got the goods and laughed the whole way home.

Either way, it makes me wonder who designed the decoration and why they didn’t take a few steps back and think, “huh. You know, it looks like Santa’s nipples are glowing.”

Merry Christmas!

Regarding Haircuts...

The other day I needed a haircut. You know how it goes... Your hair starts getting long and it weighs your head down, etc. So I asked Jen to give me a haircut.

She was almost done with everything but she realized that there were still a few hairs too long in the back. So she grabbed the clippers and tried to trim them down. The problem? The #3 guard was no longer on the clippers.

As I felt a fresh breeze over a small portion of my head I began laughing. Jen gasped and covered her mouth. I continued laughing. As you can see from the picture I had a nice chuck taken out of my hair. It still makes me laugh to look at it.

The next day I went to work. People were giving me the strangest looks but I could tell none of them wanted to say anything. ;) Only one person the entire day even said anything. It was one of my co-workers. Her comment? "What happened to your head?" At any rate, my hair has been fixed, it's much shorter than usual, but I thought everyone would enjoy my funny "bad" hairday.

Years late. As always.

Hey! We're finally joining the rest of the world! Quick update, Kevin is working at the Albertsons Pharmacy still and I, Jen, am out at the airport. We're really blessed and we're really happy. We've been doing lots of work on the house we live in, and we have lots of little tenants living with us. Ya know, the eight legged, creepy kind. We're having them professionally evicted soon because I can't walk into a room without tip-toeing around scaning for intruders. Anyways, we're starting a business on the side of our already full-time jobs. We're starting a web design business! Kevin is a genius in front of the keyboard. Kevin is to computers as poets are to paper. And both garner the same amount of popularity. Its just as hard for me to watch Kevin code as it is to listen to teenage poetry...but at least the poems have words I recognize. ;) (He made me write that)
I digress. We're not in school this semester, however, we're doing lots of personal study in lots of areas and we're loving it! We're also learning some new languages. I'm learning Japanese and Kevin is learning Java, PHP, CSS, Mysql, and Japanese with me. Well, ok, the first real post is over. We'll try to keep this updated. We'll post some fun pics and vids later.
